5 days in Hawaii - just Andrew and me...

and 30 baseball players...

The baseball team went to Hawaii this past week to open up their season. Amelia and I went with the team last year and I loved the sun, beach and luxury. Amelia, on the other hand, found it was just another good place to cry. So this year, we decided to leave her with grandma!

This was our first time to leave her overnight and I was a little nervous but it turned out to be a wonderful decision and was truly relaxing and rejuvenating - especially before the new baby comes.

Unfortunately, without my "mom hat" on, I was not inspired to take billions of photos and we came home with only 3 photos while we were there! This is very disappointing to me - especially when I want look back and relive the trip. The mental memories will have to do.

This is right before the last baseball game on the day we left. I had just realized that we only had a couple photos, so we took this one from the head coach's balcony with Andrew in his uniform. At least I'm wearing a swim suit, so it makes it look Hawaii-ish. Aloha!

Um, and that's it folks. Bummer huh? Well, imagine stunning photos of some of our other activities: walking along the beach, dangling my feet in the hot tub, Andrew working and me reading by the pool, baseball games, dining out, perfect weather, napping whenever I felt like it, sleeping in, staying up late, and all this with no crying. It was wonderful!

Although I don't know how stunning the photos would actually have been since I am pasty white and awkwardly pregnant. Maybe it's better to just imagine :)
21 Weeks
Ha, Andrew says this picture doesn't do my belly justice. I say, um, that's just the point! Of course I'm not going to initiate taking a belly picture on a day when I feel like a tank. I took it on a day I was wearing black. Come see me in real life if you want any more truth than this.

While we were gone, Amelia came down with pneumonia. Grandma, Grandpa and Uncle Joe spent hours in Urgent Care, and then days in demanding sick grandbaby/niece care. Edy is a saint and Amelia couldn't have been in more capable, loving, healing hands. She is so lucky. And so are Andrew and I.

Here she is watching the NBA and eating pizza with Uncle Joe
Giving herself a tummy massage with Gma and Gpa's handheld massager.
It was wonderful to get some time together in the sun, but we were so excited to see her when we got back. She cried big crocodile tears when I picked her up from grandma - like the emotion of it all was too much. She hasn't stopped hugging and snuggling since. She also doesn't let me out of her sight :)

And here are a couple of pictures and a video from before we left. One day I was letting her play with the big wooden spoon and when I was getting her ready for dinner she started yelling for her spoon. I got her one of her baby spoons, but she kept yelling. I got her down from her chair and she ran and picked this one up from the floor and proceeded to eat her peas and corn with it. Funny girl.

Ah, the dancing skills of the baby product of 2 parents who can't dance...poor thing, she doesn't even have a chance. But she does have some pretty sweet moves of her own as you can see for yourself. She pushes the music button on her car and whenever the music stops she runs back to push the button so she has more music to dance to. Pretty entertaining.

By the way, please excuse the outfit. I was in the middle of packing and doing laundry for our trip, so she was left to sleep in whatever was clean and we weren't taking...leaving her with this mismatched beauty. And some nice bedhead to match.

Frogs and snails and puppy dog tails...it's a boy!

We are so excited and I love knowing the little swimming, kicking baby inside of me is a boy.

I have been day-dreaming about a calm, happy, peaceful baby this time around, but his wiggly, squirmy, busy ultrasound looked a lot like Amelia's and the ultrasound tech said a lot of the same things, like, "Wow, this baby really likes to move! Look at him go - he doesn't stop!" Gulp. At least they will have each other...

You know, for the first day or so, I actually think it feels a little odd to know the gender. It's as if yesterday, in my mind, this baby's gender was an idea to be played around with, switched back and forth, tried on for size, picked up, put down and picked up again. But today he is a boy. And the ultra sound tech said there is absolutely no question about that. Baby #2 is a boy. I love knowing though and I love the months ahead it gives me to prepare to meet him.

My mother-in-law already forbade me from dressing him in Amelia's hand-me-downs...although I may not be above putting him in a pink car seat...:)
