Cute noises

video
I love being 2 months old!

Oh, this picture is so sweet, right? Well, if you only knew!

This is how delighted she is seconds after exploding out of her diaper all over every layer of clothing -for the FOURTH time in TWO days.

Seriously though, how can you be frustrated at all when she looks this happy?
You can't :)
She's so much fun.

PS: Do you think she's getting enough to eat?
Are 3 rolls on your thigh enough at 2 months? How about 1 roll on your forearm, 1 on your wrist, 1 on your bicep and a pot belly?

Amelia's Baby Blessing
November 1, 2009

What a wonderful weekend. We were so blessed to have family and friends here for Amelia's blessing day and we had such a fun weekend. My dad came from New Mexico and my sister came from Texas. Andrew's parents and brother came from Portland and his other brother came from Utah. It was wonderful and made me wish we lived closer to all of our family members.
This is the dress I wore for my baby blessing. It was so neat to have Amelia wear it. The lace was a little yellow, but with multiple washings and soakings it looked pretty good. The shoes were the ones I wore too. Unfortunately we don't have a picture of me in the dress, but I loved her in it.

Lisa took this picture on our drive to church.

I think she looks very serious like she knew the importance of this day.
My dad thinks she looks like Maggie from the Simpsons sucking on her pacifier.

Either way, she's cute.

As Lisa and I like to say: A thorn between two roses...
As my dad likes to say: A rose between two thorns...

However you chose to look at it, this treo had a ton of fun together! We had a great weekend laughing, joking and playing. I love my family so much and it was wonderful having two of them here this weekend.

Fall Walks in Oregon
We went on a couple of beautiful walks while our families were here. Fall in Oregon is so beautiful and the weather was great. It was so fun to get out and enjoy it.

Some other random pictures

Amelia loves her dad. She has always loved the sound of his voice and loves to look and smile at him. I love this picture of her staring at Andrew so intently. He is such a good dad.

Quite awake time. I love this time. It usually happens after she eats and she is just content and happy. She usually smiles and plays for a few minutes, and then will zone out in a state of quiet happiness. Love it.

I really do love this little girl so much. She is such a sweetheart and I love spending my days with her and can't imagine anything I'd rather do. She is a good, fun baby and I feel so lucky to be able to stay home and raise her. What a joy she is to me. We love her so much.

This is when we picked Lisa up from the airport. Her shirt says, "I wuv my wittle Aunt Wisa." It's a hilarious inside joke.

Hilarious, right Lisa?!

Halloween
October 31, 2009

The grandparents seem to agree that this is not a cute costume and that we should not dress our daughter in a pig outfit. Andrew and I, on the other hand, think she looks adorable! Just goes to show that we are the stereotypical parents who think our daughter is cute in everything...but I think we're right!
The costume came from a friend's daughter, so if it makes our parents feel any better, we didn't buy it. And she didn't even wear it for Halloween, she just tried it on for the picture :)

And there you have it. A ton of pictures from our weekend. Unfortunately they don't even begin to illustrate the fun we had together, the beauty of the Fall in Oregon, the delicious food we ate, or how cute Amelia is...so you had better come for a visit to find out!

Dad this one's for you:
Amelia's first smile. This was the first time she started really smiling at me and my mother-in-law grabbed the camera and caught this one on film. I'm surprised, as you can tell from my smile, and Amelia is showing her crooked smile (taking after her daddy once again!). This was on Sunday and she has been smiling ever since. She really likes smiling at Andrew and he can get her to smile practically every time he picks her up. What a cutie! We love her so much.

And it was cold in our house so she is wearing socks on her hands and a hat :)

1 Month Old
Time is flying and she is growing so fast...

She is getting really good at holding her head up and she likes to look all around.

I love the baby sling. It is so convenient to carry her and then I have both my hands free and can still get things done around the house like vacuum or eat my dinner (although I have to be extra careful not to drop food on her head!) She loves sitting in here because she can look out at the world. Then usually she quietly fall asleep. I like that part.
Here she is sleeping with Grandma Checketts.
Wearing socks and a hat because it is getting COLD :(

This is her quiet, alert face when she is just content and zoned out.

Male-pattern baldness...
I knew babies sometimes lost their hair, but I didn't know it could go like this.
Poor girl. Good thing she's got such a cute face.

If only pictures could do her justice...

Picture taking woes:
I can be staring right at her and snap a picture and then look at the picture and think it doesn't even look like her. The color is wrong, the angle is flat, and she just looks so much cuter in person. Maybe I need a new camera? Maybe it's just that she's cuter in real life? I guess you'll all just have to come and visit to see how cute she really is. But here are some pictures to tide you over.

In the stroller ready for our daily walk. We both love our walks together. Sometimes she sleeps and sometimes she looks around for the whole hour and tries to absorb the new sights and sounds. She loves the cool air on her face and closes her eyes and leans into the breeze. My daily walks are much more fun with her along.

Hug Me
Hug me...are you kidding? I want to kiss you, squeeze you, cuddle you, love you, and eat you up. Hug you. That's an understatement.

Grape sucker anyone?
I know, a little disturbing that it looks like the nutritionist is feeding her 3 week old baby purple Popsicles, but the truth is, we have thrush and the medicine used to fight it is a purple dye that leaves her lips purple for the day. Only one more treatment *hopefully* and then back to normal, but kind of funny for now.

Cute sleeper.

Cute baby. Hot hubby. Lucky mommy :)

One week old today
I can't believe it's been a week already. We are still having so much fun with our sweet little girl and she gets cuter and sweeter everyday. Since her initial appearance when we couldn't really tell who she looked like, we are starting to think she looks like Andrew. Luckily we have a picture of Andrew from high school in a grass skirt and coconuts, and he made a good looking girl, so we think she has a chance!

We took our first stroller walk the other day and she loved it. She slept the whole time and was very content.

Welcome Amelia Anne Checketts
Born 6:11 am Wednesday, September 23, 2009
7 pounds 2 ounces, 19 1/4 inches long

Proud Mom and Dad after a start-to-finish 3 hour labor!

She's finally here and she is so much fun! We are so in love with our sweet little girl and are having so much fun with her. Can't wait until you all get to meet her!

Tuesday morning I went into my 39.5 week doctor's appointment and my amniotic fluid was low and the baby was measuring small. Throughout the pregnancy there had been enough concern about the placenta failing that the doctor felt it was time to get our baby out. So she said, "Are you ready to have a baby tonight?" Well, ready or not, it was time!

We went into the hospital Tuesday night and they planned to induce me at 7:00am the next morning. I ended up going into labor that night at 2:30 am and having the baby 3 1/2 hours later at 6:11 am - 1 hour before we were scheduled to be induced! And she was a pound bigger than the ultrasound had shown at my doctor's appointment. It was an amazing experience and such a surprise that it happened so fast.
Andrew giving Amelia her first bath an hour after she was born. He is such an awesome dad and it has been so fun to see them together. His eyes light up when he sees her and he always wants to hold, burp and change her. She loves the sound of his voice and being held by him.

Our sweet little Amelia

We can't tell yet who she looks like, but we sure think she's cute

What a good-looking new Dad!

How many first-time parents does it take to put one tiny baby in a car seat? Apparently two with two grandmas standing by for support!

1 day old
Tired new mommy...and this is just the beginning!
I love her hair and hope she keeps it! I didn't have hair until I was 3 years old, but Andrew did as a baby, so we'll see.

2 days old
After a night of very little sleep, she's ready for a day full of sleep. It appears that we've got a long way to go before this little girl gets her nights and days straight.

We are so grateful for our healthy, happy, sweet baby girl and are having so much fun with her. I know having a baby means I will be taking more pictures, and I hope I will find time to blog them more frequently. It's 2:000am right now, so it looks like I may be having more hours in my day so we'll see.
