What we've been up to

We went swimming the other day and Amelia had so much fun. She especially loved the water slide and kept yelling, "Again! Again!" as soon as we'd land in the water. William enjoyed sleeping poolside.
William is already over 11 pounds and seems to be growing daily. He is still so sweet and I am loving every snuggly moment of his newborn-ness.
Mom and dad came to visit a couple weeks ago and were able to be here for William's baby blessing. It was so fun to have them and I am already counting off siblings until it's my turn for them to visit me again. Darn those siblings.

I think Amelia looks like my mom in this picture. Maybe it's just because they are both blond, bright-eyed, smiling and lovely.
I love this picture. Amelia has been so good with her new little brother, but she does like to make sure she still fits in!
We borrowed William's blessing outfit from Drew Phelps, and I thought he looked so cute in it! It fit Drew when he was 3 months old...William was 2 weeks old...
Amelia and I made peanut butter balls for snack today. I thought she would like stirring and helping me cook. I was right.
But mostly she liked eating the melted chocolate. And then wiping it all over the counters and fronts of the cupboards while I nursed William.

I love this video of Amelia singing to William. So sweet!

All good things newborn

This little boy is seriously all the good things you think of about a newborn, and none of the bad. He is sweet and cuddly, sleepy and appropriately alert, a good nurser and pooper :), rarely fussy and easily soothed, and kissably adorable all the time. I love it! I hope this dream continues.
Look how long he is!
Amelia likes to hold him. For the most part she tries to be pretty sweet, but she does have a hard time being consistently gentle.
We had a BBQ with some friends on the 4th of July and Amelia looked so cute in her red, white and blue. She ate 2 ice cream cones and a cupcake after dinner. She likes the 4th of July.

Since the weather has been nice we have really been enjoying time in our backyard with the sprinklers on. Here she is hanging out with her BFF, Drew.
We went to the Raptor Center this weekend and got to see this incredibly cool owl up close. Very impressive.

Baby Boy Checketts

William Henry Checketts
July 1, 2011
9 pounds 3 ounces
21 inches
He's here! And he's pretty much as sweet as they come. We are so in love with him. Even as I type this, he is snuggled right into my side making sweet baby noises. I am so in love.

And yes, you read that right, little William made his entrance into the world weighing 9 POUNDS 3 OUNCES. I am still in shock that I had such a big baby. Amelia was 7 pounds 2 ounces, and although I felt like he was bigger during the pregnancy, I had no idea I was making a 9 pounder!

Oh, did I mention that I delivered without anesthesia. Yeah...pretty much thought I was going to die. Don't worry though, I learned my lesson. If there is a next baby Checketts, I'm having the anesthesiologist meet me at the door.

So far, Amelia thinks her baby brother's great. Grandma and Grandpa Checketts and Uncle Joe came down and have been playing with her all weekend. She has been able to eat fun foods, play with the hose, fly like an airplane and land in a bunch of pillows and do all sorts of fun things that she only gets to do when fun uncles and grandparents come. Oh, and there’s this cute, squeaky baby hanging around. She doesn't notice that he's encroaching upon anything yet...

Just for comparison, this is a picture of Amelia when she was born. I think they look very similar. But then again, don't all newborns look kind of similar in a squished, splotchy, puffy, cute sort of way :)?
