Some videos
Backyard baseball and soccer
I love watching the kids play soccer and baseball with Andrew in the backyard.
These videos show how all the kids get involved!  (Also note the drought-brown backyard.)

I love that William is playing in his undies :)

William is such an awesome big brother.  He loves to rough-house with Ellie and make her laugh - and she loves it too - but he always uses appropriate gentleness.  This compilation of videos shows a little glimpse into their friendship.  I love these kids.

I love this video.  This is a year ago (shortly after Ellie was born) and grandma was visiting.  You can see why the kids love when grandma visits!  Also, you can see why I love to watch William play.  He is seriously the cutest.

Andrew and Amelia have mastered the pool flip routine

And then there is this classic. Amelia's Spiderwoman song
And this one of William dancing to Gangnam Style

'Tis the birthday season in the Checketts household!  We have a birthday in July, August, September, October and December so it is a fun stretch of the year for us!  I love it.

Happy 4th Birthday Sweet William!
If I could freeze this boy at 4 years old I would be so tempted to do it.  I can hardly stand how darling he is.  I just want to squeeze him up and give him kisses all over his cute little nose.
Seriously, does a little boy get any cuter than this?
I love his laugh.  I love when he wipes my kisses off so that I'll keep giving him more.  I love when he blows me kisses and air hugs from the swings when I drop him off at preschool.  I love watching him play.  He gets into character as an Octonaut or Wild Krat and jumps off couches singing a theme song and saving animals in distress.  I love watching him play with Ellie.  He tackles her and carries her around but always with an appropriate gentleness and love.

Amelia got caught up in the moment and blew out the candles on his cake!  Haha, so this is of us singing it speedy the second time so that he could blow them out himself.  I love his laugh.

Ellie is Wonderful One!
Oh, man, this girl is such a sweetheart.
We all love her to pieces and loved celebrating her first birthday.
I love watching her play with her siblings.  She adores them and they are so sweet to her.  It is kind of amazing now that I think about it, but there has not been one instance of meanness or jealousy directed at Ellie from her siblings since she was born. I'm sure moments will come in the future as she starts getting into their stuff or fighting for a turn, etc, but until this point she has just been everyone's baby and is loved and adored by all.
I am so grateful for these sweet children who love each other so much.

She loves to share her slobbery food!
She loved her cake and could not be bothered to look at the camera while she was eating.

What?  I like cake...and whipped cream...
 and my bib.

Amelia is 6!
I love 6 year old Amelia.  This is such a great age.  Kindergarten is so innocent and sweet and I still feel like she is my baby, but we also get to enjoy the structure and activities of school life.  This year she has discovered that she loves to jump rope at recess.  She even tries to do it at home when she's supposed to be sleeping. The rhythmic thud, thud, thud on the ceiling downstairs always gives her away.
She is such a sweet, thoughtful, energetic girl.  I love watching this girl grow.

Strawberry Sponge Cake per request

And what could be better than a surprise visit from GRANDMA for your birthday.  Nothing.  Pretty much nothing could be better. These kids were in Grandma heaven.
Love this girl!
And here is a video of her cute jump roping skills

Andrew turns...the big 4-0!

We had so much fun celebrating Andrew's 40th this year.  We had a table full of color with fresh vegetables, hummus and roasted chicken for dinner and berries and whipped cream for treat.  Ellie didn't like it at all as you can tell!

40 never looked so good!

We took peanut butter protein smoothies over to the baseball field to celebrate with the team and that was such a fun moment to share.  Sorry the video is wobbly, but I love the moment.

And then that night we went to the pumpkin patch.

I collected memories from friends and family and we had a fun time reading through those together and feeling grateful that he has been around for 40 years!  The kids and I also gave him a gift certificate for a massage so he would feel 40 years young.

Instagram has stolen some of the thunder out of my blogging, but I do love looking back through my blog over the years.  So here are some pictures from this year!

These 3 take a bath together every night and it is grand fun for all!

UCSB hosted their first regional in baseball program history and it was a tremendous experience.  We were so happy to have both grandparents come out to experience it with us.  What a season.  Go Gauchos!

Amelia and William were happy to do this during the games
Soaking off the stress with dad!
Not where he wanted to be watching the last game of the series, but it was a great weekend nonetheless and an amazing season.  Love this man.

Utah Fun
We were so lucky to be able to see Doug and Laurie's family this summer.  We love spending time with them and their amazing kids.  I hope our kids turn out just like their cousins.
Ellie knows family and loved everybody

Amelia idolizes Chloe

Bear Lake
Then we got to see my family and extended family at the Chet and Evelyn Asay family reunion at Bear Lake.  What a wonderful week!

I love these people so much.  I wish we all lived next door.

Love my little clan

Ellie loved her Uncle Dan.
 And her grandma
 And her grandma's ice cream!

 She also liked playing pool

I love that we all have babies so close in age.  Aren't they all so cute!

Of course we got ice cream...it wouldn't be an Asay reunion if we didn't!
And we played Pitch...because it wouldn't be a Chet Asay reunion if we didn't!
And we had lots of fun cousin time!

And some beautiful days on the water
I wish we all lived in a big house together and that every day was a vacation!

And some other happenings in 2015

Amelia started kindergarten.  Isn't she the cutest kindergartener you ever did see?

We made lots of beach trips and at least one of us ate lots of sand...

We went out for doughnuts and smoothies
and dancing in the plaza

We flew a kite at the beach

We went to a wedding in San Francisco where this was the venue.  It was breathtaking.

Amelia said, "Should I pose like this?"  Haha, where does she get these ideas?
 Love these 2 wedding goers
Ellie was just happy to eat rocks

She loves being one of the big kids
The kids love riding the tandem with dad
These two and their blue eyes.  Love them so much.
We went camping.  It was supposed to be fun, but it was not.  Ellie didn't sleep, which means we didn't sleep.  We stayed 2 nights.  They were both a mistake.  We will not go camping again until we no longer have a baby.  And even then I don't know if I'll be able to convince Andrew to go...
Amelia found these broken glasses on one of our walks and insisted on wearing them for 2 days.
I pretty much have this baby permanently attached to me
This is when she used to lean her head back just to check and make sure it was still me behind her!
I love these 2 together.  They are best friends and I love watching them play together.  William was pretty lost when Amelia went to kindergarten and he kept asking how many more minutes until she got home (even though it was hours and hours away...).
On one of our beach walks after we dropped Amelia off at school
On a date hike to Inspiration Point
We played tourists for the day and rode the Land Shark.  It was really fun.

These 2 are really great workers.  They are especially smiley workers here though because they were doing extra chores for extra quarters!
Amelia did soccer this year and it has been so fun watching her.  She gets right in on the center of the action (not surprising considering her personality), works hard, and never gives up.  I love watching her out there.
Ellie came with Andrew and I on a date one night.  She is darling, but man is she busy and noisy!
 A day at the pier
 An evening date hike
