Sunday Musings

Amelia is a very social baby. She has been from the very beginning. She loves being out and about, smiling at new people and squealing loudly to anyone within ear shot. And now that she can move a little bit (no crawling yet, but getting very good at "downward dog" as well as turning in circles), she is even more adept at seeking out the social contact she craves.

Case in point:

You can set her on the ground with a bunch of toys and she will lie there and scream her head off, tears streaming down her face for 20 minutes without stopping. The minute you go and sit down next to her she will frantically turn in a circle until she can pull herself into your lap. Once comfortably in your lap, she will immediately stop crying and look around contentedly to see what toys she can play with. Apparently all she needs is your warm, comforting lap, and the knowledge that you are there holding her. Heaven forbid you try to get anything done with your day besides hold her...

That's how she's like me Michelle! I can't get anything done around the house if I'm in it alone...but if Matt is here, I'm very productive! For example right now, Matt is asleep on the couch, but I've made some headway on my girl's camp items...but did nothing while he was at work for the past 6 hours...It just feels nice to have someone around :-)

That's hilarious! I completely understand. Sounds like our house. This is why I am actually excited for Grant to start walking. I'm hoping he won't feel the need to be picked up all the time once he has some independence. However, savor these sweet moments. Though it can he hard right now, this stage will creepily pass you by and then you wonder what happened to the time! (I guess what I'm trying to say is try to enjoy it and have Andrew take her when he can so you can get stuff done!) :)

I'll let her sit in my lap and play. Evelyn and Allison will especially let her play with them. When are you coming?
